Star rating

Star rating records your tower's progress from the starting tier up to five stars. Open the tower summary's Rating view to see the objectives and unlocks for each tier. Opening the view selects the next star by default.

Earn the next star

Complete the objectives shown for the next tier. Requirements belong to the active map and can involve population, occupied hotel rooms, commute performance or a successful event. Read the current value and target for each row instead of relying on the number of rooms you have built.

  • If hotel progress is low, check actual guests and bookings with Hotel guide. Empty beds do not count as guests.
  • If a commute requirement is unmet, inspect routes and congestion with Elevator guide and Transport systems.
  • If an event is required, check its result. A failed event does not satisfy a successful-event objective.

Some objectives keep completed progress, while others use a current condition or the previous day's results. Allow the relevant assessment or event to occur, then check the Rating view again. Stars already earned are retained if live conditions later fall.

Unlocks and rewards

New stars can unlock rooms, transport, wallpaper, elevator car limits and additional project offers. A tier can also award a cash bonus or a temporary tourism-demand bonus. The Rating view shows the active map's unlocks; see Nostalgia, Tokyo and Tutorial for map-specific guidance. Custom maps and mods can use different objectives and rewards.

Projects are separate optional contracts. Their advance funding and completion payments help finance expansion, but completing a project does not directly award a star. See Projects for requirements and grants, and Troubleshooting if progress appears stuck.
