Stairs
The tried and true staircase.

| Category | Transports |
Stairs are a transport system in 2D Tower. The tried and true staircase.
Overview
- Construction cost: $30,000
- Demolition cost: $3,000
- Footprint: 4 tiles × 1 floor
How it works
Stairs provide low-cost local vertical travel. A standard traverse takes 10 in-game minutes.
Tall openings
When placed across a two-story room or two-story wallpaper, the tool selects the taller stair variant. It costs $60,000, spans the taller opening, and takes 20 in-game minutes to traverse.
Strategy
Use Stairs for short hops and as a resilient secondary route, especially between paired floors. They are inexpensive, but long stair journeys are slow; do not rely on them alone for a tall or heavily populated tower.
