A Garbage Chute Room lets people deposit garbage near their floor rather than carry it all the way to a dock. Each room holds up to five units and transfers them through its adjacent Garbage Chute.

Placement

Build the room immediately to the left of a Garbage Chute, touching the shaft along the room's right side. People still need a usable route to the room. The shaft must connect at its bottom to a constructed Garbage Room, Garbage Dock or Loading Dock.

Placement example

Conceptual placement diagram — widths are labeled; this is not an in-game screenshot or a tested tower layout:

Deposit floor: [Chute Room: 4 tiles][Shaft: 2 tiles]
                                        │ │
Lower floors: │ │
                                        ▼ ▼
Bottom: [one receiving room under both outlets]

The deposit room touches the shaft on its right, with no intervening tile. At the bottom, both outlet cells must be over the same constructed receiving room: a Garbage Room, Garbage Dock or Loading Dock.

Arrangement Result
Chute room immediately left of the shaft; both outlets over one valid receiver The connection can transfer garbage when the receiver has capacity.
A gap between chute room and shaft No valid deposit-room connection.
Shaft outlets over two different rooms, or an unconstructed receiver No valid receiving-room connection.
Valid connection, full receiver Garbage stays in the chute room until the receiver can accept it.

A connected chute room holding five units is full. Free receiving capacity and check the destination's collection arrangements; the link itself does not guarantee free capacity.

Full rooms and blocked connections

A connected room transfers garbage automatically when the destination has available capacity. If the receiver is full or cannot currently accept deposits, the chute room retains its garbage. At five units it is full and cannot accept more until garbage transfers out.

Connected to garbage destination confirms the link, not free capacity. If the room fills, inspect the destination and its collection arrangements. No connection means the shaft or receiving-room connection needs attention.

Chutes do not replace disposal trucks or workers collecting from a Garbage Room; they shorten the route to the receiving facility.
