Hotel guide
A working hotel combines booking attraction, available rooms, a front desk and dependable guest services. Use this guide to choose room types and decide whether to improve capacity or the guest experience.
Compare room types
The costs below are base values before changes such as renovation. The city-map unlocks apply to Nostalgia and Tokyo; custom maps can differ.
| Room | Guests per room | Footprint | Construction | Base upkeep/day | City-map unlock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single Hotel Room | 1 | 5 tiles × 1 floor | $30,000 | $20 | 2 stars |
| Twin Hotel Room | 2 | 8 tiles × 1 floor | $60,000 | $40 | 3 stars |
| Suite Hotel Room | 3 | 16 tiles × 1 floor | $90,000 | $60 | 4 stars |
All three types require a Hotel Front Desk, cleaning and shared washroom access. Check their individual pages for evaluation factors and room rates.
Assemble the service chain
Conceptual service diagram — this shows dependencies, not a tested floor plan:
Guest arrival → passenger route → Front Desk → hotel room
check-in │
Guest departure ← passenger route ← check-out │
│
Housekeeping → cleaning ──┘
Food + Washroom → guest visits
Keep the front desk easy to reach from the arrival route. Provide enough front-desk staff, Housekeeping and service transport for the rooms you operate. Carts and cleaning traffic may need a Service Elevator or another eligible service route. Keep guests' food and washroom trips convenient too.
Capacity or attraction?
| What the demand display shows | Useful response |
|---|---|
| Booking opportunities exceed eligible room capacity | Add or restore usable rooms and resolve operational problems. Check front-desk throughput and cleaning before expanding further. |
| Many eligible rooms remain vacant | Improve quality and attraction. More equally rated rooms provide capacity but do not multiply the tower's share of regional travelers. |
| Poor measured hotel ratings | Inspect room quality, check-in/out and commute results. Adding unreviewed rooms does not erase the existing record. |
Hotel attraction depends on stars, recent population, quality and advertising while competing hotels also attract travelers. Advertising changes attraction, not the number of regional travelers.
Work toward hotel objectives
The third city-map star requires 50 guests checked in concurrently and a satisfactory VIP visit, alongside population. For capacity planning, 50 single rooms or 25 twin rooms provide 50 guest spaces; actual eligibility, bookings and successful check-in still determine whether the objective is reached. Keep the difference between rooms, guest spaces and concurrent guests clear.
If the hotel stalls
Use Troubleshooting and the individual room queries. Inspect routes and power first, then cleanliness/condition, provider results and staffing. The Hotel Front Desk reference explains rating, wages and VIP visits.
