A need is a named service that a room can evaluate: Food, Washroom, Mail, Car parking, Subway, Front desk or Garbage. Provider rooms advertise a service; other rooms search for an eligible provider through the tower’s route and service system.
Hard and scored needs
A hard association ties a room’s service to an assigned provider; without a usable association, that service is unavailable. Scored service performance contributes to Room evaluation. Missing a service does not always block occupancy outright: check the room-specific operating rules and named concerns. Some services are scheduled: they are attempted in a time window, may retry before a deadline, and can be weekday-only. Results eventually become stale.
Practical play: put providers where people can reach them through usable routes, not merely near them on the map. Recheck paths after transport changes or power outages.
Room-to-service matrix
L1–L4 below are room evaluation levels, not construction unlocks. Many evaluated rooms follow the tower's stars by default; use the room's level controls/details to check its current expectations. Hard association means a service is tied to an assigned provider. Scored means performance contributes to satisfaction. Cleaning, supplies and garbage handling can also affect operation independently of a named evaluated need.
| Consumer | Service and provider | When / how it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Office | Washroom; Food from Fast Food or Restaurant | Scored from L1. Food is scheduled on weekdays; speed and completion matter. |
| Office | Mail Room | Mail is a hard association from L2; reachability and trip performance matter. |
| Office | Security Services, Parking Stall, Subway Station | Security and parking are scored from L3; subway from L4. |
| Apartment / Condo | Mail Room; Garbage Room, Garbage Chute Room or Garbage Dock; Security Services | Mail is a hard association from L2. Garbage handling affects evaluation; security enters at L3. |
| Hotel bedrooms (single, twin and suite) | Hotel Front Desk | Hard front-desk association. Guests need an open, staffed desk to begin check-in. |
| Hotel bedrooms | Washroom; Fast Food or Restaurant; Security Services; Parking Stall | Food/washroom are scored from L1, security from L2 and parking from L3. |
| Hotel bedrooms / rooms needing cleaning | Housekeeping and a reachable garbage destination | Cleaning maintains usability. Dirty hotel rooms cannot keep accepting bookings indefinitely; infestation can cancel a reservation. |
| Store | Washroom; Security Services; Parking Stall | Washroom is scored from L2; security and parking from L3. Visitors and profitability are separate concerns. |
| Fast Food / Restaurant | Supplies from Loading Dock or Delivery Dock; garbage destination | Stock is needed to operate. Staff must be able to replenish supplies and remove accumulated garbage. |
| Cinema, Clinic, Stadium | Garbage destination | Their workers must be able to remove generated garbage; check each room's operating details. |
| Housekeeping | Garbage Room, Garbage Chute Room or Garbage Dock | Workers need somewhere usable to unload what they collect, as well as access to dirty rooms. |
| Powered rooms and transport | Power Distribution Room / Power | Insufficient supply can shut down operation. This is separate from scored service satisfaction. |
Providers also have conditions. An unconstructed, disabled, closed, unpowered, full or inaccessible provider may be unusable for the relevant service. A provider's presence in the tower is not proof that the consumer can use it. Check capacity and staffing in the provider's query window.
Vending Machine is not a substitute for Fast Food or Restaurant when a room needs Food. A Garbage Chute shaft alone is not a destination: it needs appropriate chute access rooms and a working downstream disposal arrangement. See Garbage for that layout.
Worked failure examples
Nearby provider, missing route
An office and a washroom can be close on screen but lie on unconnected floor sections. Adding another washroom without fixing the path repeats the problem. Trace a usable route from the office entrance to the provider, including transport stops; see Transport systems.
Mail becomes expected after a level increase
An office reaches L2 and now expects Mail. Provide an eligible Mail Room with available service capacity and a usable route. A blocked or unusable assigned provider does not become useful merely because a different room looks closer. Recheck the association and provider state, then let service trips run.
Food exists but the meal is missed
Office food attempts occur on weekdays in a 10:00–14:00 window and can retry before the 17:00 deadline. A closed or out-of-stock restaurant, an inaccessible route or a slow trip can still fail the meal. Check hours, stock, staffing and transport rather than counting food-room icons.
Guests can arrive, but cleaners cannot
A stair route may work for a guest while a cleaning cart needs an eligible elevator route. Check Housekeeping's path to the dirty room and onward to garbage disposal. Increasing staff does not repair an unusable route.
No bookings despite an empty bedroom
Check the front-desk association, the desk's open/staffed state, cleaning, power and entrance route before reducing price. Hotel guide explains booking and check-in; Market demand explains the separate demand side.
Service results can take time to update and become stale. Watch actual trips and the room's named concerns instead of expecting every score to change immediately after placing a provider.
