Garbage is generated by specific rooms such as Condos and Apartments. Some service buildings such as Housekeeping will also generate garbage as workers clean rooms.

Garbage can only be disposed of using a Loading Dock or a Garbage Dock by garbage trucks. Loading Docks are suitable for limited amounts of garbage and must be placed at your Tower's ground floor. Garbage Docks have higher capacity and may be placed underground but will require Car Access for garbage trucks to empty properly.

Garbage can be stored in Garbage Rooms, allowing for residents to quickly get rid of their garbage. However, Garbage Rooms will need to be emptied periodically by workers to either a Loading Dock or a Garbage Dock.

Disposal

Garbage chutes

A Garbage Chute is a resizable vertical shaft. People deposit garbage in separate Garbage Chute Rooms placed immediately to its left. A chute room must touch the shaft on its right-hand side; placing one elsewhere is not valid.

At the bottom, the shaft must connect directly to a constructed Garbage Room, Garbage Dock or Loading Dock. The full two-tile outlet must lead into the same receiving room. A shaft by itself is not a disposal destination for residents: provide reachable chute rooms on the floors you want to serve.

Each chute room can hold five units of garbage. With a valid connection and available space at the receiver, its stored garbage transfers down the shaft automatically. If the receiver is full or cannot currently accept garbage, the chute room keeps its garbage and can fill up. Transfer resumes when receiving capacity becomes available.

The room query distinguishes Connected to garbage destination from No connection. A connection does not promise free capacity. Check the receiving room as well as the chute room when garbage stops moving.

Chutes move garbage within the tower; they do not remove it from the game. A Garbage Room still needs its contents collected, and docks still depend on their normal disposal operations. Keep access and collection working at the destination.

These are the base game's current chute rules. Other garbage storage capacities and room properties can differ by room type; do not assume that the five-unit chute-room capacity applies to docks or ordinary garbage rooms.

Generators

Certain rooms generate garbage. Some rooms may stop functioning if garbage builds up including Restaurants and Housekeeping. Other rooms such as Condos and Apartments may become unhappy if residents are unable to dispose of their garbage.

Garbage generators include:

  • Condos and Apartments
  • Housekeeping, around one garbage per every 10 rooms cleaned
  • Restaurants and Fast Food Restaurants
